Our oars and sculls are comprised of carbon fibre shafts and foam core composite blades. They are hand-made by craftsmen to your specifications which allows us to produce any item to the highest quality and incorporate any additional requirements you may have.
See the sections below for more information on our oars and sculls
For anything non-standard please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Carbon fibre is the main ingredient in the production of our shafts. The carbon is wrapped around a loom using a unique laying-up procedure that allows us to digress from our standard lay-up if you desire. With longitudinal reinforcement, our shafts are not exact circles, but the carbon is placed where it is needed most. This gives a shaft with a smaller profile than our competitors but with high strength and rigidity.
The blades are produced from a foam core composite, comprising of carbon fibre on each side of a resin impregnated foam core to provide high strength and rigidity.
We are able to produce both macon and cleaver blades in various sizes. The standard ranges of sizes are as follows:

Our handles are made from wood. This provides a better feeling blade and also balances the weight of the scull to give a better feel through the stroke. The wood also provides, in our opinion, a more aesthetic look in this day and age of plastic and composites.
Handles can be produced in various sizes with our standard size being a 3.6cm diameter.
We use Martinolli sleeves and collars as standard on all of our sculls. The sleeve is PVC and the collar is nylon. The adjustments available for inboard are in increments of 1/3 cm.
Concept II or other makes of sleeve can be fitted on request if required.
The standard weight of a Carbolite scull is 1.2kg per scull, although given that our products are hand made this is an approximate weight. Some of our recent sculls have been produced at a weight of 1.0kg.

Handles can be produced in various sizes with our standard size being a 4.6cm diameter on the inside hand tapering to 4.0 cm for the outside hand.
Our 'SuperGrip' handles are as above but with a Custom Carbon sculling grip attached on the end of the handle. This provides the feel of a wooden handle with the superiority of a rubber grip for control.
We use Martinolli sleeves and collars as standard on all of our oars. The sleeve is PVC and the collar is nylon. The adjustments available for inboard are in increments of 1/3 cm.

The standard weight of a Carbolite oar is 2.4kg, although given that our products are hand made this is an approximate weight. Some of our recent oars have been produced at a weight of 2.2kg.

Our aluminium sculls have the same specifications as our 'Carbolite' sculls except the shaft is made from aluminium.
The ends of the shaft have been shaped to accept the spoon and grips so that the whole shaft is a continuous piece of aluminium.
This provides a solid and durable scull suitable for general club training and novices.
The standard weight of an aluminium scull is 2.1kg per scull.

If you would like a stiffer or softer shaft, or a different blade size then this can easily be accommodated in our production process. The standard ranges of variation are given below and any of these can be incorporated for our standard prices. Should you want anything outside these options, please contact us to discuss your requirements, and we can inform you of any additional costs at that point.
